I've been experimenting with Linux lately, and my ultimate goal is to run VMWare with multiple distros. Ideally, I would power up my computer, and without pressing anything VMWare would load. I've already set GRUB to wait 0 seconds before choosing Arch, but then I'm forced to log in. I know if I didn't have to log in or it did so automatically, then all I would have to do would be to make VMWare run on startup (easy). I run gnome.
I just don't know how to make login to Arch automatic. This might not be a "newbie" question, but I thought I'd post it here since I'm definitely a "newbie". Thanks.
Edit: Also, in the hopes of making Arch lighter and quicker to load, how can I uninstall Gnome-extra? Anything that gnome-extra supplies I can get by using one of my virtual machines.

The wiki is your friend:

I found that wiki article, but it saying that it would log me into a VM automatically threw me off. I don't need to be logged into a VM on bootup, just onto Arch. If that's the same thing I apologize. Virtual machine being italicized for emphasis made me think it wasn't.

- If you want to automatically login in from shell: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Aut … al_console
- If you want to automatically login from, for example, gdm: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Gno … _autologin
Forget VM

My question is also about the gnome-extra:
Is it possible to uninstall certain extras like emapthy, tomboy or orca by using pacman -R - without braking the system?
