I get this message in x86-64 version of Arch. Even uder root so that's not a problem with user settings. Is there something I forgot to install or set?
I have gvfs, thunar-volman. .xinitrc is as follows:
export GTK2_RC_FILES="$HOME/.gtkrc-2.0"
export DE=xfce
exec ck-launch-session dbus-launch --exit-with-session startxfce4

When do you get this error? If you try to mount e.g. a pendrive to /media/foo an that directory doesn't exist, it will give you such an error message.
BTW, you have a typo in the title: it should read 'mount point'.

Manual mount is fine. I get this when I double click (or right click and select mount) on device icon which appears on desktop after connecting it. As for the typo, it's actually there, I've pasted it directly from the window.
I've found only one thread like this on some Ubuntu forum and there was the same mistake :-) The guy solved it by installing different mount manager which is not what I really like, it's working fine on my laptop, just not here.

proserpine, considerations have changed in the past two years. Please start a new thread (and give more info. such as fstab). Closing, our policy. Good luck.
