Yep, definitely fixes shutdown issues.

(I think they mention something about removing a troublesome acpi patch in the changelog...)

when i install new nvidia package..
why???

It's an MM kernel. If you need separate drivers for your video card or whatever, using a more stable patchset might be prudent!

If you're using nVidia's proprietary drivers you shouldn't use rivafb. Re-compile your kernel to use vesafb instead, or pass "video=vesafb  vga=something" as a kernel parameter. (Check the default Grub config or the kernel docs in Documentation/fb/vesafb,txt in your kernel source tree for a table of possible vga= values.)
