Hi,
I have just lost some really important files. What happened is the following:
I have a partition in ntfs which I use to share files between arch and windows.
I started working with some files in arch, and then hibernated. Later I continued editing those files in windows. Since occasionally I play some games in windows, there has been some time since I worked in linux.
Now, when I resumed arch, the files are left as the first time in linux. All the changes made in windows are lost. I restarted windows and the files are lost too!
What could I do to recover those files?
thanks for any help!

Have you looked in lost+found in the directory where your windows drive is mounted?

thanks for the quick response, but no such directory exists

Nothing. Upon restoring them to the old state in Linux, they got overwritten and that's it.
Start again.

That seems right, but I'm lucky!
I installed "ntfsprogs" from the repos, and run ntfsfix on the partition. The files are recovered now.
I guess that since I hibernate, the new files got orphaned on resuming. The original files seems to be just overwritten and the changes lost, but the new files are ok.
Since before making large changes I use to copy the files, just in case, I didn't lose anything significant.

Oh, nice!
'ntfsfix', that's something to remember.
