[SOLVED] fullscreen games too dark + cant adjust brightness

I have had this problem long ago in linux. Not only arch linux, but every other linux. Basically, every single quake 3 based game like tremulous and WOP. I have kept searching up solutions but couldnt find any. So, I decided to post a topic on this at my favorite community. I will give additional info if needed.

also, i have an intel 965. if that has anything to do with it. i think that this issue needs to be taken seriously and it should be solved.

First of all...don't bump 4 times in a row.

Doesn't your screen allow you to adjust the brightness/contrast/etc?

Re: [SOLVED] fullscreen games too dark + cant adjust brightness

hey wait, i figured out a solution. first i downloaded the package called quake3 from the aur. i installed it, then i got another problem which was no sound so i downloaded a script called et-sdl-sound, modified it so that it would open quake instead of enemy-territory. and voila, it worked perfectly. if anyone needs the et-sdl-sound script, here's the command:

wget -q -O - http://nullkey.ath.cx/~stuff/et-sdl-sou … l-sound.gz | gzip -d > et-sdl-sound && chmod a+x et-sdl-sound

happy gaming, people
EDIT: This script only works for alsa

also, i found another soution. if you cant adjust brightness in any q3 based game, type "r_overbrightbits 0" in the commandline, by pressing ~

Just a FWIW..
et-sdl-sound is available from both the AUR and from Arch-games repo.

PLEASE read and try to FIX/FILE BUGS instead of assuming other have/will.
