I like TiddlyWiki but I do not want to install Java only for it.
You don't need java to run TW, only javascript.

And how can I do that? (sorry for the stupid question)

You need java if you want to use it with chrome. With firefox, just download tiddlywiki and open it in firefox.

Wow.
I just take notes with openoffice in outline form.

Tomboy is the only Gnome app that I use, and I'm so dependent on it that I'm willing to put up with all the dependencies and even mono. I use it with the Lock-Unlock Note plug-in, which keeps me from inadvertently changing critical info.
I'd actually prefer to use Gnote, a C++ port of Tomboy, but the Lock-Unlock Note feature isn't yet fully implemented.
When I have to run Windows, I use a great free notetaker called NoteLens. It's got an incredibly fast search function.

Heres a command reference manual for taskwarrior, which is generally a nice application.
Personally, im trying org, which is awesome but emacs takes a while to get used to. But its worth it.
There shouldn't be any reason to learn more editor types than emacs or vi -- mg (1)

I simply use Conky to display my 'reminder' file. Conky stays in the background of my desktop.

I use Evernote. I know it's not exacly a linux way, in fact there is no even linux client for this service. But i can use web-interface from linux-desctop, client from windows-laptop and client for android-phone, so it's pretty convenient to me.
il use nevernote (available in aur https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=41226) a nice evernote client for linux
i just tried evernote to prepare a future "migration" to a smartphone... i dunno if it would be an androide or maemo(meego?) device ...

On the computer, I have a shortcut bound to open a 'notes.txt' file in whatever dwm tag I'm currently in. If it's just a note, done. For more detailed or information that needs retention, I can hit the shortcuts for Vimwiki and make either a wiki entry (for work or personal) or a diary entry (also either work or personal). I swear, I've written more down since learning vimwiki than I have in years....I even put the wiki(s) into git and have a script that auto-commits changes to a central repo so I can have up-to-date notes wherever I happen to be working/playing.

I got a Droid phone a year ago and the first thing I did was look for a good notetaking app...and no kidding, after setting it up initially, I think I maybe used it a half dozen times. Now I use vimwiki daily...it's just not as easy as I thought writing on a smartphone.
