Syntax error hp-setup line 112 after python3 ..(pseudo Closed)

Please advise how to change python3 to point to python2 to eliminate the setup error in hp-setup.

The /usr/bin/hp-setup is reported to have a syntax error on line 112.

I assume this is caused by the python3 change.

Moderator:  Changed title so to avoid confusion.  The title said closed, but the thread is really still open.

Update your system should fix it...   An up-to-date version of that file has "#!/usr/bin/env python2" so works.

Which file are you referring to?

Is it HPLIP or what?

I assume that file is generated by HPLIP which is a PKGBUILD.

I generated that recently.

hp-setup is an executable provided by the hplip package. The hplip package depends on python2. Update your system, and all will be well.

Make sure you're using an up-to-date mirror as well.

Have verified the latest files installed but the printer prints negative again.  Ghostscript is -9.0.0-2.

hplip is from -Syu and cups is -1.4.5-2.

Again? This is a different problem, isn't it?

Also, what exactly do you mean by "prints negative"?

The images have negative  color values like a photo negative.

This problem has appeared for a while with printers.  I assumed that it was solved with the advice given on this thread, but it seems not.

I may have to go back to an older ghostscript again.

Tried older ghostscript8-70-4 but still have negative pix values.

What ghostscript may solve the negative pix problem?

Re: Syntax error hp-setup line 112 after python3 ..(pseudo Closed)

I too have these problems (both printing in inverted colors and hplip not working). My printer is configured via CUPS and I have the hp 6980DT which is very similar to your 6940 model.

I get the following message when I try and run hp-setup.

warning: Qt/PyQt 4 initialization failed.

This occurs on both my 32 bit and my 64 bit system, both of which are up to date.

I had same error with hp-systray and I've seen that hplip doesn't install by default python2-qt4 : this both commands are graphical user interfaces, thus they need this package.

I believe it's related to this bug: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/24372 so it's not closed as the title suggest, isn't it?

Moderator comment:  Well, the topic is not really closed -- it just says closed in the title.  I'll adjust that to avoid confusion
