touchpad doesn't click on tapping

I've already installed xf86-input-synaptics and all other functions of the touchpad work except for the clicking(i.e it doesn't click when tapped). A forum search led me to this thread- https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=116292, which I think is the same problem I'm experiencing but I didn't really find a solution on that thread. Could you guys help me out on this? Thanks

Re: touchpad doesn't click on tapping

I think that the solution is here, if you haven't done this before :

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sy … ed_options

You need to configure the synaptic driver to use "advanced" features like scrolling or tap-to-click

Re: touchpad doesn't click on tapping

I just tried adding

Option "FingerPress" "2"

to the config file but nothing happened. That's the right Option right?

Re: touchpad doesn't click on tapping

Are you using anything like gsynaptics or gpointingdevicesettings? I don't use them myself, but perhaps installing one of them can help you. Or uninstalling, of course.

Anyway, my config file has Option "FingerPress" "255", not "2". In case it helps, I put up my config file here:

Single-tap clicking does work for me, so you could maybe compare smile

Oh, and look at the synaptics manual:

$ man synaptics

Re: touchpad doesn't click on tapping

It is the option below for the left-click (think as 1-left 2-middle 3-right)

Option "TapButton1" "1"

And tapbutton1,2,3 means 1 finger, 2fingers ..  at a time tapping on touchpad

do you use gnome?

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

gnome overwrites x settings. go to system settings->mouse and touchpad and then touchpad tab
