change the way pcmanfm mounts

When I let pcmanfm automount my usb hard drive, my backup-daemon cannot write to it as the permissions are read-only. How can I configure pcmanfm to automount my usb hard drive with the correct access permissions?

Thanks!

Did you add your user to dbus, disk, hal groups?

Why would a user need to be a member of dbus, disk and hal?  For example, adding a user to the disk group gives them unnecessary privileges to all your drives.
