Hello,
Well I recently installed arch and gnome and everything has been going great for the most part. I saw MPD and decided to install it as i have a massive music collection and from the reviews I have seen it is amazing.
I followed the arch install guide located here.
http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Install
I got to the step where you enter : (tried with and without sudo)
/etc/rc.d/mpd create-db
When I type that and press enter I get:
$ /etc/rc.d/mpd create-db
usage: /etc/rc.d/mpd {start|stop|restart}
Next for the sake of trying something I tried start,stop , restart and all 3 return FAIL as the result.
I tried google before I came here but with no luck and being tired I figured I would try here.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums canadianpanda. It is advised to use Arch's own wiki instructions: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mpd

wow... mpds own wiki is very outdated it seems...
He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.

Thanks! Yeah now that I look at both of them, their is really a big difference.
I am going to set it up using the wiki now and once I know it is working I will mark the thread "Solved" .
EDIT:
SOLVED! Took me a few tries as I forgot to setup pulse/alsa correctly.
I got to say I really like mpd!
