tty1 is echoing commands

Hello -

I've got an odd issue just arisen - when I try to log in in tty1 my username & password are both echoed when I type them in, eg:

<computer> login: root
root
Password: secretpassword!

Once logged in, every command thereafter is also echoed.

My DE is KDE4 so this is only happens when I drop into tty1. It doesn't happen in any other tty and if I log out in tty1 then log back in again it doesn't happen the second time around.

I can't figure out why this is happening - the only thing I've changed is a recent install of plymouth-git but afaik that shouldn't be affecting this.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: tty1 is echoing commands

It seems this behaviuor is related to plymouth - this bug report exactly describes the behaviour:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=595178

I'm using plymouth-git - can any other plymouth user replicate this?

Re: tty1 is echoing commands

I can reproduce this in each computer that's using Plymouth. I am also using plymouth-git.

Cheers!

Re: tty1 is echoing commands

Reproduced here as well, plymouth-git, both on i686 and x86_64 computers. Looks like the non-git version is orphaned, though a new stable release came a few days ago. Don't have time right now to investigate if that debian fix ever made it upstream or not, but that's probably worth looking into
