Setting up a 64-bit wine installation to use IE

Hi all, I'm working on setting up winetricks ie6 on my 64 bit install. According the the wiki I need to delete my wine directory and then create a new one. The problem is, I have quite a few things installed on there and I'd rather not have to reinstall everything. Is there a way to make my .wine directory appear 32 bit without wiping the whole thing out? Alternatively, can I copy a program from the current wine directory somewhere and then move it back after the process without breaking anything?

Use a frontend like q4wine.  Or alternatively use WINEPREFIX= environment variable to set it to create a new wine prefix. You can have as many as you like.
