Arch Plymouth themes

My fellow Archers! I just created an Arch variant of the Paw-OSX Plymouth theme and would love to see any other Arch-specific themes people have to share. I can't actually get any themes to ANIMATE, so if anyone knows how to fix that please tell me.

Re: Arch Plymouth themes

Sadly I can't use Plymouth cause I don't have KMS (using proprietary ATi driver) - but Fbsplash might be worth looking into, too! Actually, this is just an excuse for asking you if you could make that theme available for Fbsplash wink

Re: Arch Plymouth themes

It's a very nice theme! Could you make it also in different colors? Maybe blue etc.

Edit: Also, I could use some tips. Now, the splash shows, then exits, then there is blackness for like 5-6 seconds before KDE loading screen shows. How do I get the nice picture to stay for as long as possible? I followed the plymouth wiki, and start X with startx through /etc/inittab. Also, sorry for of topic.

Re: Arch Plymouth themes

I can't explain it in great detail, but the best way to go about animating Plymouth themes is:

1) Head to this blog and give the tutorial a read through.

2) Based on that info, open a simple theme (such as Spinfinity) and look at the syntax for its spinner.  That should help you get started with animating multiple images, or cycling through a single image along a set path.

Good Luck!

Afaik animation was introduced in fbsplash long time back, so its sad that there are not many animated themes for fbsplash. But this theme has been on gnome-look for a long time. Change the logo if you wish. wink

Mine is just a quick mod of the Paw theme, which already has a script. I just changed the name and logo and modified the paths to match the correct theme location. I downloaded the Gnome logo Paw variant from AUR and it's not animated either, not to mention I can't get splash previews working so I've just been rebooting to test...

Re: Arch Plymouth themes

Kahlil, mind if I use your Arch background for the fbsplash package I'm trying to create?

Go right ahead! I like spreading the Arch propaganda.

Re: Arch Plymouth themes

Here's my http://ompldr.org/vOHNibA]fbsplash-theme-archx

I've only made a resolution of 1024x768 and even that one doesn't look too good (fonts need recoloring, Arch logo looks stretched and the text isn't completely in the center), but I decided to release it anyway since some of you might be able to improve it further.

Thanks, haven't heard of that one before. I like the simplicity of fbsplash though, so I'll just stick with that.

Re: Arch Plymouth themes

Could you perhaps make this theme with Arch colors, like black background and arch-blue logo? smile
