Hebrew fonts problem

I'm trying to install Hebrew font support. I installed the culmus fonts from the AUR, but no application can use it. I'm playing movies with hebrew subtitles, but it displays gibberish.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried browsing websites which have hebrew text on them (he.wikipedia.org if I recall the language codes correctly)? What exactly do you mean by gibberish, do you recognise the alphabet used or is it random shapes? Have you played the subtitles worked correctly on other computers before?
