gnome 2 broke after botched nvidia drivers install attempt [SOLVED]

I trided to install nvidia drvers "nvidia nvidia-utils" about ten days ago.
First installed nvidia nvidia-utils then removed xf86-video-nouveau drivers.
After rebooted and enter "xinit gnome-session on the comand line I get these messages:

Please check log file /var/log/Xorg.0.log

xinit: give up

Tried to uninstall  nvidia drivers but could not because of dependencies for libgl
Reinstalled xf86-video-nouveau still brook (yes I know I'm a noob)

Perhaps you forgot to remove the xorg config mentioned here after installing the nvidia drivers, your xorg log shows the nouveau driver being loaded instead of the nvidia one.

You probably have a /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nouveau.conf or similar.

I  ran nvidia-xconfig (Like says to do in the Wiki)  rebooted and it worked!
