I am unable to make wicd work. It works very well on my EEE700 but my Acer refuses to cooperate.
There seems to be a problem with dhcpcd. I get in the log :
wlan0 waiting for a carrier
sending command to master dhcpcd process
control command: /usr/sbin/dhcpcd -k wlan0
wlan0: removing interface
On the other hand, my EEE goes into the process of broadcasting for a lease and everything and all is fine.
What is wrong with me

You can try using dhclient rather than dhcpcd. On my machine, dhclient enabled me to maintain a connection while dhcpcd would frequently disconnect.

I tried that too as I have been reading that sometime replacing dhcpcd with dhclient helps.
But it is not working. I get
No working lease in persistent database - sleeping

Now, that is interesting!!
In my area, there are two access points with the same ESSID. Mine, which is WPA2 and an unsecured one (a neighboor) If I select that unsecured one with wicd-curses, I get an IP, but it is my wpa2 that gets highlighted. I know I am not connected to my router because mine is in the 10.0.1 but I get a 192.168.1.108
Total confusion

I gave up on wicd for now. I went with networkmanager until I find a way to get wicd working.
