Anyone know what's happening with LXDE?

The website has been down for at least a month, and there have been no updates to the software components for a while. Does anyone know what's been going on with this project?

Edit: funny, there is recent activity on the bug tracker, but not much else.

I did see this on the Ubuntu forums.
Still unclear as to what's happened, I'm afraid.

Re: Anyone know what's happening with LXDE?

I am contacting pcman, but I did not get any respond so far.
Recently Lxde has no real commit on the main conponents; there are only translation updates.

If you think pcmanfm and gpicview is good, please support this project by coding or giving financial support.

Re: Anyone know what's happening with LXDE?

I just went to their official irc channel. This is it: #lxde @ irc.oftc.net

Here are some bits from the conversation:

16:53    brother-    it's been down for over a week and I haven't got any answers myself
16:53    brother-    it's just a proxy that tend to die every now and then
...
16:58    pcman    SoleSoul: we got some dns problems
...
16:59    SoleSoul    someone stole the domain name?
16:59    SoleSoul    what is the ip of the site?
17:00    SoleSoul    at least I could get there until everything will be ok again
17:04    pcman    SoleSoul: we're now transferring the domain name to another service provider.
17:05    SoleSoul    Thank you for the info. It would be great to let the world know about it. people are worried smile

I did stumble across this:

So I'm guessing things will pick up again.

Re: Anyone know what's happening with LXDE?

Yeah, there's not much development on LXDE sadly. The dev working on lxpanel left a few months ago. Don't know the reasons, probably the usual - real life commitments didn't leave him time to work on open source. Pcman himself still works on PCManFM from time to time, but progress is very slow. And that's pretty much that.

It would be really sad news if this project eventually dies..

Re: Anyone know what's happening with LXDE?

The great part of this project is that each component works independently(without base or many dependencies.) While xfce, gnome, kde tend to have base libraries, lxde is easy to customize.

Re: Anyone know what's happening with LXDE?

It might be useful to get on board and start porting lxappearance and pcmanfm to GTK 3 (although a lot of the users of LXDE might want to stay with GTK 2 applications for now, considering the ease of themeability). Porting to GTK 3 has potential performance gains as well as some room to implement some new features without many hacks or workarounds. I don't really see there being much to add or change when it comes to LXDE, though. Maybe that's the main issue, although maintenance will probably be important as soon as Xfce4 and its utilities get ported to GTK 3.
