Apple/Mac/MBP install from USB stick.

Hi,

I am having trouble starting the installation process from a USB stick on a MBP (8,1). I followed the instructions at

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … n_Mac_OS_X

to prepare the USB stick, but am unable to convince the MBP to boot from it. I have tried both using the "Startup Disk" pane of Mac OS X's System Preferences, as well as restarting and holding down the "option" key; I just get the option to boot from the internal hard drive.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Apple/Mac/MBP install from USB stick.

If I'm not mistaken, the USB drive has to be formatted a certain way for a Mac to boot it.

I couldn't get it to work either, but I'm trying (right now, even), to see of another method will work. I'll get back to you if I have anything noteworthy.

EDIT: Yeah, I'm getting nothing. If anyone else has input on this, I'll be happy to listen.

Re: Apple/Mac/MBP install from USB stick.

Thanks for the post, I definitely appreciate it.

Still no progress on my end either. If you happen to sort to sort it out, please let me know; I'll do the same.

Thanks again.
