Artwork needed for a system updater

Hi there. I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this, but I couldn't find one which would fit better.

I'm currently working on an update daemon for Arch. Basically it runs a daemon on the background, and a nice GUI which sits on the system tray.

Since I'm far from being an artist, yet love the eye candy, I was wondering if someone would like to design icons for this application.

I was thinking about 3D looking pacman icons for various status messages, maybe one with a black asterik on it when updates are available, one icon for upgrading in progress etc.

Anyway, if anyone is up for it, please reply (or send a PM).

Thank you.

Sorry not an artist but isn't a background updater daemon not the wisest course of action? I would think that you may kick yourself a few times for automating the process.

Re: Artwork needed for a system updater

there's also the pacman adesklet, which you could snag the icon from (unified icons would be nice)

sarah31, it's not an autoupdater, of course. It will blink an icon in the tray. When the user clicks on it, he will be presented with a dialog from which he chooses which upgrades he wants, and it will only then update them.

you should really check the adesklets Cam has made to work with pacman and the AUR:

Re: Artwork needed for a system updater

Hmm yeah, it does look similar...

Well I've been working on my version for a few days now so I'd better finish what I started.

Maybe I can borrow some artwork from the adesklet, but I'd better wrap it all up first.

Just a note, the artwork form the desklet isn't mine.

There are a lot more icons than just what I included in my desklet, you might be able to find enough to use a different emotion to signal different stuff.
