Selective wifi??

I'm running KDE on my eeePC1000, RaLink RT2860 and dieghen89's netbook-kernel and wicd.

At home, at my sister's and at my son's place my netbook connects consistently using WPA2.
At my daughter's place sometimes it connects just fine and an hour later will not connect at all - also WPA2.
At the public library it sometimes connects, yesterday - no way! Open connection found but "can't find IP address".

Haven't found any similar posts and was hoping someone could suggest how to start troubleshooting.

Thank you.

Re: Selective wifi??

Sounds like a dhcp problem, not a connection one. Check your logs.

Re: Selective wifi??

Thanks, I'll check the logs . . .
Also replaced wicd (which I prefer) with networkmanager at least for the time bieng. So far, so good.
I'll download the wifi and network pages from the wiki for off-line use and reference if the problem resurfaces.
