I've written a little tool that keeps the temperature of your Macbook Pro to a reasonable level. It basically checks the cpu temperature every 10 seconds and adjusts the Fan to keep you computer cool. (Not like the out of the box behavior which does nothing till somewhere around 80 deg. centigrade.)
There are 2 modes: The default mode which tries to be as quiet as possible and the "aggressive" mode which tries to be as cool as possible.
There is no binary distribution (or AUR package) yet. You need to build the code yourself - which is fairly painless. You only need to get google's Go language and type "gomake". There are no other external dependencies.
You can find the code here: https://github.com/jsz/mbpfand
Please note that I had no possibility to test the code on other Macbook Pros than my MBP 5,5 (13" mid 2009) model. So feedback and bug reports are most welcome.
I hope this will be of use for at least some of you!
regards,
Leon
