console p2p / music service?

Ok, for the record - I'd rather pay for this stuff.  I'm looking for a console app to download music (so I can run it over ssh).

I'm not to up on all the p2p trends lately, so if anyone could provide some insight and/or options, it'd be appretiated.

Thanks

Re: console p2p / music service?

I don't know about p2p, but bittorrent can be used in a lot of cases, if you haven't thought of that.

The nature of p2p makes it kind of difficult for a CLI app... It would either have to be ncurses or similar based, or would have to use a daemon that searches and downloads in the background and you query with commands.

I guess it could work like a standard text-based ftp client.

Regardless, I don't know if such a program exists. But it could be done, hehe.

Dusty:
yeah, I'd use btdownloadcurses or btdownloadheadless if I could, but I have no way of searching for things over ssh (and I really don't want to search torrent sites from work - too many pr0n ads)

Hi,

You could use Lynx or Links to browse those kind of sites... if pics are what worry you.

Dont know what kind of downloads are you looking for, but thats the best way i can think of combined with the above recommendations.

Also,

www.torrentspy.com

has a good search engine, and it has no ads. (pr0n at least).

Re: console p2p / music service?

Not sure how great of a search engine it is, but the creator of BitTorrent released one on the main page of http://www.bittorrent.com/ just a couple months ago.

mutella is great, but gift with giftcurs is nice too, easier to use, and lets you interact with ares, fasttrack, and gnutella

Re: console p2p / music service?

I like the mutella interface so much more... and it supports the gwebcache thing... I didn't seem to get many hits when using giftcurs

(and that stupid ass setup = 1 or 0 think made me angry)

Re: console p2p / music service?

the stup is bad, but I like being able to use ares, if you like mutella then, by all means, keep using it.
