Hi, my name is Mark Coolen. I'm fairly new to Arch but not to Linux. I'm also interested in Astronomy (as an amateur). I'd like to start an Astronomy page in the Wiki and was wondering if anyone else is interested in this. I'd like the page to be an introduction to astronomy software available in Arch and a comparison of the various capabilities of that software. What else can be included?

Welcome to Arch. One of the things I have found about Arch is that it is a collection of independent projects flying in loose formation. For example, I am a moderator for the Forums, but have no special status on the Wiki, or with the Devs, or even with the TUs and their AUR. Therefore, I do not speak with authority regarding the Wiki.
I would assert that any Wiki page must have direct relevance to Arch Linux. Presumably, this would mean howtos for astronomy programs, interfacing to observation instruments, perhaps links to web sites like heavensabove, etc.
I would delegate discussion of general astronomy to a Blog somewhere.

Thanks for the advice. I agree that the wiki should be Arch-centric.

The 'Scientific Applications' page looks like the right place to make a list, at least. I'll start one for Astronomy software.
