LUKS / dm-crypt with keyfile and password

Hi

I'm trying to encrypt an external 1TB usb hdd. I want to use both a keyfile and password. For the keyfile: I want to store it on my completely encrypted home computer. So that when I plug the device in it would be automatically mounted and unlocked. On other computers I could access it with the password.

So my first question is: Where would I store this keyfile best on my computer?

Second: How would I then associate the keyfile to that disk automatically? I'm a bit lost here as I think the approach mentioned in the wiki via initcpio doesn't help me there. Quite nooby I'd rather think there has to be some sort of solution via fstab. But there I might be very very wrong ...

Thanks for any help or guidance!

Re: LUKS / dm-crypt with keyfile and password

Uhm - I think it doesnt matter where the key is - I created an own folder for keyfiles near fstab xD (I think root-partition is a good place)

I solved this by automounting it during boot - of course it isnt the same as you want to, but nearly - and at least for me its enough.
So when your harddisk is plugged in during boot, it wont be a matter
