Advantages and Disadvantages of a tiling window manager?

I am running arch linux on a laptop and I'm thinking about trying out a tiling window manager. It seems like it would work well with a laptop since it uses the keyboard more than the mouse. What exactly are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using one? Do all programs run just as good in a tiling window manager like dwm as in say gnome or kde?

also what would some good tiling window managers be for a laptop? I'm looking for one that's fairly light, simple to configure and use, sufficient features, and preferably one that's in the pacman repository.

Re: Advantages and Disadvantages of a tiling window manager?

There is an excellent comparison of tilers on the Arch Wiki: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … w_Managers

The only way to form a view is to read up on the features, browse the many threads here dedicated to specific tiling wms, check out the screenshot threads and then install a couple and try them.

Otherwise, this has been covered plenty of times before...

Closing.
