Hi
I am setting up server with:
Intel i5-2300
Gigabyte ga-q67m-d2h-b3
2 x 2GB Patriot DDR3
I can boot it only with acpi=off, I tried at first CentOS Linux, now I am trying on my favourite Arch Linux.
I get the same kernel panics as posted below, I tried already 2.6.38-ARCH, 2.6.39-1 from testing, 2.6.32-lts, 2.6.18 (stable kernel od CentOS).
Is there any significant BIOS switch I may have misconfigured? Or is there any way to boot with acpi?
The most significant ACPI relevant feature for me is power off, now when I halt the machine it stays powered and I have to manually switch it off. Is there any way to hack it for a meantime?
Any idea?

Perhaps you can find clues to your panic in the wiki..... kernel panics......

Thank, I've read wiki page, but not found it useful for my problem.

Hi,
I just bought that motherboard.
Same problem here.
I am using kernel 3.0.4 now, but i have to pass acpi=off to boot any linux kernel from at least 2.6.26 (I did not try any kernel older than a debian lenny install)
I managed to extract the DSDT table from a windows 7 install. I've got 24 errors on recompilation.
I found a thread about correcting the DSDT to allow OS X to boot :

I will try to use some of the DSDT corrected for OSX to see if it's better.
note: I have BIOS revision F2, i tried to update to F5 and stuck the motherboard. Now it's back from RMA, I will stick with that revision.

Hi,
it seems to be a common problem with gigabyte board and their acpi description tables. Both gigabyte board i own, had similar issue until i updated bios to F4 or higher.
