Wired Internet on Acer 1410

Recently I installed Arch 2010.05 on an Acer 1410 notebook.  The operating system runs perfectly fine except for the wired internet card and wireless internet card.

The wireless card on that notebook never worked, so I'm not too concerned about that, but if I can't have the wired internet, then I can't install anything and that makes it useless to me.  I was hoping somebody could offer some assistance in the setting up of a network on a Broadcom BCN4401 (module: b44)?

The network card works perfectly on my old Ubuntu 7.04 install cd, so I know it's not a dud.

If I can't install the network card properly without some other packages, then I need to know if I can then install packages using a DVD through pacman.

Thank-you in advance for any assistance,

Re: Wired Internet on Acer 1410

What mode of wired eth0 are you using?...dhcp or fixed IP?

Re: Wired Internet on Acer 1410

I am using DHCP.

From my kernel.log, the b44 driver seems to be looping through the same messages:
eth0: link is up at 100 Mbps, full duplex
eth0: flow control is off for TX and off for RX
eth0: powering down PHY
eth0: Link is down
eth0: powering down PHY
eth0: link is up at 100 Mbps, full duplex
(and this basically repeats)

Re: Wired Internet on Acer 1410

Perhaps you can install via dvd if you use ...pacman -U (full path to full package name)

That is : if dvd is device sdd...pacman -U /dev/sdd/vlc-1.1.10-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz....... for example

You may need dependencies....pacman -Udd....

I think this procedure might be correct...................
