Hardware compatibility

Hello, I want to buy a new pc.
I have already keyboard, trackball, monitor, router, printer and ups.
I want to buy

Is it right? Can I have compatibility problems?

PS: unusually i play to old windows games like hitman2, deus ex, pax payne... I think the integrated video card is enough. What do you think about?

Re: Hardware compatibility

You will probably want an optical disk, network interface, keyboard, and a pointing device as well

Excuse me, I forgot to mention I have also a dvd burner (a DVD-RW DVR-108 PIONEER) and a ethernet controller (Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C).

Re: Hardware compatibility

The most critical items to check for in terms of compatibility are motherboard  and graphics card, especially the chipsets used on both. Just search google on the type numbers in combination with terms like "incompatible" "linux" "drivers" "unsupported" "firmware".

It should work:

NVIDIA cards are usually a safe bet if you don't mind getting a discrete card.

I don't think Optimus is relevant for a desktop PC smile

On nvnews (Linux section) it seems a few desktop PCs come with it already. Not sure whether that would be the case with whatever combination the OP is looking at, but one of the complaints on those forums is that the word 'Optimus' isn't always advertised, more often it simply says "save more power" or something like that.

yes I know, but I haven't enough money to buy a saparate card... so this can be the only solution. I hope it works.

Re: Hardware compatibility

What about going the AMD processor route with integrated (formerly ATI) graphics?
