Forum title for TUs?

Because of the present change in the TU system and the general impression of a lack of interactions between TUs and the normal Arch users, I think that it could be a good idea for TUs to have a specific "Trusted User" forum title since the developers and package maintainers already have one.  It might help the community to know better who the TUs are (especially since the new TUs who are active on the forum). Just an idea. Feel free to discuss smile

Re: Forum title for TUs?

I also thought about it when adding AUR. Shall we add in same section as AUR or separate? What name of TUR forums?

Er... I don't think he means a new forum, I think he means that they be given a title like 'Trusted User'. Like you're "Forum and Wiki co-admin' and I'm 'Moderator'

Re: Forum title for TUs?

We need to try to stop using TUR. I dont believe that applies to anything anymore, and only confuses users.
TU = Trusted User
AUR = Web interface for community provided pkgbuilds
[community] TU managed community repository
unsupported - classification of packages uploaded by users to the AUR. Those not managed by the TUs.

Maybe the mailing list could be renamed to aur-users.

Exactly.  I'm talking about the title appearing below the username. Sorry, if I wasn't clear in my first post.

I agree. The TUR link has been removed from the AL home page. The [community] repo is replacing the TUR.

Then, do we still want the title? Or title for active AUR contributors?

Re: Forum title for TUs?

I don't mind if my forum title is changed to Forum Adviser/TU for example - that's good for me smile

I think a forum for TU dicussion is a bad idea cos that should be all done on the mailing list smile

Re: Forum title for TUs?

I was working on the titles and noticed there is confusion who are the official Trusted Users. Wiki page says differently what the TUR are holding.

TUR:
ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/tur

Re: Forum title for TUs?

It's a good idea, makes it easy to recognize TUs. And wannabe TUs.  smile

Re: Forum title for TUs?

*erm* my time to chime in.
A page listing the TUs will probably be on the todo list for the next incarnation of the AUR, so that they're less of a dark and scary group than they have been in the past.

TUs: You may ALWAYS see the current list of TUs by going to the Accounts page, and selecting Trusted User as search criteria. The only exception to this is people like me who are developer AND tu, in which case I won't appear on the TU listing. ...hmm maybe we should special case this?

For my information when giving a TU title, who decides an user as official TU?

Well right now, we sort of inserted some TUs to stir the group up a bit. However, TUs are usually chosen through a democratic process by the existing TUs.

andreww is "hapy" if he's got one, and bob is probably "bfinch", but I'm not sure if either of them have accounts.

Re: Forum title for TUs?

I'm prety sure Bob never posts to the forums, it wouldn't surprise me if he never registered. Regardless, he's not likely to be posting here anyway, so you don't need to set a username.
