I tried to call 'xsetroot' without parameters and with the '-bg black' parameters, and it crashed both times..
I have X Server 1.10.2 and kernel 2.6.38-ARCH on intel x86_64

Same problem here. When I call xsetroot it kills my X session. But I have no log errors in /var/log/Xorg.0.log strangely...
