possible to get a package of kernel26-ck 2.6.38.8 now?

I upgraded to kernel26-ck 2.6.39.1 and the backlight control of my samsung laptop doesn't work. I wanted to go back to 2.6.38.8 but I cannot find the package to download.
I have to download and install the official kernel26 2.6.38.8 from http://arm.konnichi.com/search/

Check the files in /var/cache/pacman/pkg It should still be there. Install with pacman -U

You can't find it on your disk or on ARM?

Thanks for your replies.
I recently ran a -Scc so nothing is left.
So regret. sad
Seems I am sticking with the official one for a long time.

Go to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=111715 and ask if anyone still has 2.6.38.8 and can e-mail you. Just be sure to get the one with the correct optimizations (or just ck-generic).

Re: possible to get a package of kernel26-ck 2.6.38.8 now?

I have kernel26-ck-k8-1:2.6.38.7-1 and headers if that's any help. It's k8 for newer AMD's etc. But it's 35 MB's - will that go over email?

Take a look at ;
aur/cacheclean 1.5-1
    Cleans up pacman packages.  Users selects how many old versions to keep.

Why not just build it from the AUR? There's a git interface with history.

@york824
You can try building e.g. http://pkgbuild.com/git/aur.git/tree/ke … 92fb153970

@karol @ngoonee, thank you so much. But I am stuck here:

This is my first time to try running makepkg, and I just copied the contents from the webpage you provided above into different text files.

@swanson, thank you also for your kind offer. I need a core2 and 64bit build though.

I think you can download those files, no need to copy.
Have you tried updating the checksums in the PKGBUILD?

Just downloaded the files. The making of package has been running for almost an hour now. Seems to be working.
Thank you so much.

Re: possible to get a package of kernel26-ck 2.6.38.8 now?

The Samsung laptop driver has moved in 2.6.39 from staging tree into main, 2.6.39-ARCH enables the module (it's in platform specific drivers) but kernel-netbook and other kernels that perhaps are re-using old config's won't have the module enabled.

Re: possible to get a package of kernel26-ck 2.6.38.8 now?

I think the module is enabled in 2.6.39, because when I press the Fn keys for brightness the screen flickers for a while, it just doesn't do the job.
With 2.6.38 kernel I found an article solving the brightness problem: http://www.voria.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=821
Before 2.6.38 the brightness keys never worked in my laptop. It is a pity that the workaround doesn't work in 2.6.39, that's why I am switching back to 2.6.38.
