New libpurple causes an error in ICQ proto with Finch, maybe Pidgin

Got this error: Invalid DevId while connecting to login.icq.com
Error ocurs in finch and pidgin.
I've downgraded libpurple and issue turned to be fixed.

Give 2.8.0 another try, in case it was a temporary issue with ICQ's servers.

If you're still getting that error message, submit a bug report against Pidgin.

Re: New libpurple causes an error in ICQ proto with Finch, maybe Pidgin

ICQ did update something, and some developer keys became invalid (the ones used by Adium, Finch and Minbif but not the one used by Pidgin).  See http://trac.adium.im/ticket/15244 for more info.  I patched libpurple so it would always use the official client's DevID, which fixes the issue: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=49803
