udev primer?

I am trying to put one mp3 file onto my ipod, but I am lost on how to do it, gtkpod just won't recognize my device.

can someone help me find a good udev tutorial/primer? I have scoured the entire google-space, but there is simply nothing useful out there to get started, even the otherwise excellent arch wiki is lacking in this department.

lsusb gives me the following:

Bus 002 Device 006: ID 05ac:129e Apple, Inc. iPod Touch 4.Gen

dmesg, however, doesn't tell me anything about a /dev- device.

How can I get my ipod to mount using udev?

Re: udev primer?

Hi awayand

There is a Search at the top line of the Forums pages.
With the string 'ipod mount' I get many threads about your issue.
Among them :
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 28#p881528
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 04#p779104
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 10#p823610
and many others which seem to give answers to your problem.

Before posting it is a good practice to search the Forums for similar questions.
Have a nice day.

Re: udev primer?

None of the above really solved my problem, can I resurrect this thread?

Re: udev primer?

You should explain with details what you've tried, and the results obtained, if you want useful answers.
Personally I don't have an ipod, but hopefully someone else will give you advises, if you tell them what you've done and the messages ouput.
You can also search the web, I would be surprised if nobody has already encountered your difficulty with this device in GNU/Linux.

Edit: maybe if you change the subject title of your thread to something like 'difficulty to mount an ipod' or something similar, it will attract more attention by ipod users.
