But that's exactly what I did (twice to be exact) - I have installed arch from scratch and got the above in both cases.
With the Archboot installation you will at least be sure that you get one of the most recent kernels.

It is possible, as I am chrooted into arch from ubuntu live-usb, since there is hardly any way to get the wireless conveniently on arch now.
@litemotiv: I don't want to reinstall the system again if I don't have to. Also, it seems like a serious bug somewhere. I will try using kernel-netbook once it is compiled.

No, something gets screwed up with chrooting, i am positive this is not a case of a serious bug somewhere.

Actually, I don't use xorg config, I rely on 'autoconfig'. The problem I had was related to an old kernel version, as far as I remember. What's your error message?
