USB problems with current kernel, wifi with LTS kernel

Hi all!

I've been having some problems with both my installed kernels for, well, months.

Basically, plugging in a USB device when booted with the regular kernel, a process named 'kworker' will suck up 100% CPU on one core. Unplugging the device makes no difference, but suspending and resuming solves it, and the device mounts/connects/whatever. This has been happening since 2.6.37, but I've not yet found a fix.

My other problem, with the LTS kernel, is that I can't use wireless. Network manager (and wicd when I used it) just sit there pretending there's no wifi device, and #ifconfig wlan0 up gives me 'SIOCSIFFLAGS: Invalid argument'. My wifi card is a mini pci-e Intel 5100.

If any more info is required, just say.

Thanks
Joe
