idk what happened but weechat has started to set certain nicks black as part of the nick coloring. anyone know how to fix this? it looks terrible.

There's the string option weechat.color.chat_nick_colors which is a comma separated list of colors used for nicks. Simply remove the color(s) you don't like (maybe you meant brown as that is among the default colors?).

black is not included in that string, and the the nicks are definitely black, not brown.

Have you recently changed your terminals pallette?
The colors listed in weechat will reflect those in your palette. If you have one of these set to #000000, and in your nick_colors string, you will see black, not brown.

In fact, disable those (especially root logins) and use keys — https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SSH_Keys — but you might want to use —
ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 2048— or —
