partition is not aligned on cylinder boundaries

I wanted to create lvm partitions on my second HD. I erased one of my HD (Maxtor 6E040L0). When I opened cfdisk to make a new partitions, I noticed an asterisk at the end of the line.

Name        Flags      Part Type  FS Type          [Label]        Size (MB)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
                                       Pri/Log   Free Space                       41110.15*

According to the man file the asterisk means that the partition is not aligned on cylinder boundaries. Although there aren't any partitions, there is an asterisk. Is this something I can ignore safely? If not, what can I do about it?

Re: partition is not aligned on cylinder boundaries

That asterisk has been there as far as I can remember. So I guess it can't be that much of a problem.
