awesome-themes-git, a theme collection for awesome wm

Hey,

I've been collecting themes for the Awesome Window Manager.
You can find them on both GitHub or the AUR.

I've given the code of each theme a complete overhaul to remove absolute paths, add fallback wallpapers, port outdated themes to awesome 3.4.10 and generally make the themes more portable. They should work on every PC as long as you put them in the right place and initialize them with correctly.

The correct places to put the themes in are /usr/share/awesome/themes or ~/.config/awesome/themes.
In each theme folder is a screenshot to give you an impression of what the theme will look like.
Pick the one you like and initialize it in your rc.lua with a line like this:

beautiful.init("/usr/share/awesome/themes/bamboo/theme.lua")

Example themes:
13zn48y.jpgw7dbhc.jpg20kswef.jpg

If you have suggestions, feedback or questions, let me know.

Regards,
demian

That's quite a few themes. Pretty nifty.

Not sure I'm ready to part with my snail wallpaper, but some of these might give me inspiration. Thanks.

It just looks like the same theme, with even the same widgets, in three different colors and walls.
Such thing is a two-lines-edit away, or even better, one could even easily write a script to echo the differents colors to the theme.lua,
(e.g. press 1 for black/green, press 2 for grey/red, etc.)
without the need to stuff the awesome/themes folder with 20 times the same theme.

I do hope it's just a matter of these three screenshots, and other themes on your git are different,
otherwise it seems to me pretty worthless.

But that's what an awesome theme is: colors and wallpaper.

Yeah, the themes aren't a big deal on their own, but to have them collected all in one place is fairly nice.
I don't think he's overselling this.

Well, that's what beautiful.themes are, MrMars. A few colors and optionally a wallpaper. Use this collection as foundation for new themes, as inspiration, variation, for the code or for the lulz.

P.S.: Too late. Note to self: refresh pages.

As a new convert to the Awesome way of life:  thank you.  It's easy enough to make my own themes, but it's easier to just snag someone elses. wink

I thank you for the theme pack.
I'm an Awesome user myself, but haven't really bothered with theming. I guess I'll give it a shot.

EDIT: You should share the theme pack on their wiki:
