Issue with mounting Ipod Classic

I've been trying to setup my ipod classic to sync with my arch install for most of the day now. I disabled journaling on it in os x.

So far what I know is that it is under /dev/sdc on my macbook arch install and that under it are /dev/sdc1 and /dev/sdc2 but no matter what I do it won't mount.

When I run fdisk -l /dev/sdc I get

Note: sector size is 4096 (not 512)

Disk /dev/sdc: 159.8 GB, 159840301056 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 2429 cylinders, total 39023511 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 4096 = 4096 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

Disk /dev/sdc doesn't contain a valid partition table

I then and try to mount it by using mount -t hfsplus /dev/sdc1 and I tried it on /dev/sdc2 too.
I recieve on either one:

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail or so

Here is the output of dmesg

[ 35.923421] wlan0: no IPv6 routers present
[ 83.850063] CE: hpet increased min_delta_ns to 20113 nsec
[ 212.963254] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Bad block number requested
[ 212.963268] hfs: unable to find HFS+ superblock
[ 218.747252] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Bad block number requested
[ 218.747275] hfs: unable to find HFS+ superblock
[ 226.147127] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Bad block number requested
[ 226.147152] hfs: unable to find HFS+ superblock
[ 808.795406] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Bad block number requested
[ 808.795426] hfs: unable to find HFS+ superblock

I'm lost as to what to try now.

Perhaps Linux can't read that FS? You could reformat the iPod to fat32 and reload your media. I'm using an iPod 60 gig that works fine with all Linuxes.

Yeah I'm starting to think this is one of my only options I was just trying to avoid that just for the fact that I'll need to spend the time to get all my music and everything off it and then transfer it over to arch or to my windows desktop.

Re: Issue with mounting Ipod Classic

I assumed you were running OSx along with iTunes? I don't know your situation, but can't you just use iTunes to reformat and then re-sync your library?

That is what I'm going to do but first I have to transfer about a quarter of my music library from ipod over to my backup hdd as my os x home hdd got corrupt and with it a quarter of my library that I had not yet backed up. Oh well. Restoring now.
