Hello,
I'm currently unable to get the output from mencoder to run under VLC, the error message VLC displays is:
No suitable decoder module:
VLC does not support the audio or video format " ". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this.
I have 2 files that together are a single movie, I encoded each one to MPG format with ffmpeg then merged them with cat (with the right order), I then processed them with mencoder, the output of mencoder is the currently unplayable file.
Thanks.
EDIT: Also forgot to mention the video runs fine with mplayer & ffplay

More info would be needed i.e. the output of 'ffmpeg -i foo.bar.mpg' for each file. What does your mencoder command string look like?
Arch Linux + sway
Debian Testing + GNOME/sway
NetBSD 64-bit + Xfce

It's supposed to be that way. Mencoder was a quick hack job that made no attempt at interoperability. Even official guides say that http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/me … mcopy.html. Look up how to do the same thing but using ffmpeg the whole way.

Great things come in tar.xz packages.
