[SOLVED] ICEWM: In 1.3.7 starting application in a specific workspace

In 1.3.7 starting application in a specific workspace through winoptions is not working.

As said above, if I have for example:

Firefox.workspace: 2 (in winoptions)

this seems to be ignored and FF will be opened in the workspace I happened to be.

I checked with xprop that the name is correct and also tested with other applications.

It used to work in 1.2

I tested this in my desktop and laptop running Arch 64bit kernel 2.6.39.
I also tested in a VirtualBox Arch 32 bit installation.

I posted the above several days ago in the icewm-user mailing list, to no avail.

I do use heavily this specific workspace option.

Any icewm user comments welcome.

Re: [SOLVED] ICEWM: In 1.3.7 starting application in a specific workspace

Navigator.Firefox.workspace: 1

will open Firefox in the second workspace.
See FAQ which also reminds:

keep in mind, IceWM starts counting at 0

Re: [SOLVED] ICEWM: In 1.3.7 starting application in a specific workspace

ninian,

changing:

Firefox.workspace: 2

to:

Navigator.Firefox.workspace: 2

solved the problem, with other applications also.

Strangely Chromium, that in the version I am using has the

WM_CLASS(STRING) = "chrome", "Chrome

works OK with

Chrome.workspace: 2

Go figure.

Thanks for the tip, version 1.2 didn't need the full name.

Yep, I know icewm starts counting at 0.
