The fact that scrot writes the color code as: rgb:53/5D/6C instead of #535D6C confused me. Particularly since the default colors are all numerical.
Yes it confused me too, i discovered it after a lot of trials and errors

I am REALLY diggin' ScrotWM right now with Conky piped into the scrotbar. Thank you all for this most awesome piece of work! I was thinking of trying out XMonad or dwm but this seems like it blows all of them away!
Be formless, shapeless... like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; if you put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot... Now water can flow, or it can crash... Be water my friend

No, i went straight, because i thought it was the classic RGB notation and i was surprised when it didn't work. First i thought it was a bug, then after trying a lot of RGB values i tried with a hex one and it worked.

Think I might call the man page the howto and faq and see if you linux people bite :-)

anyone come up with a way to view fullscreen flash videos on chromium with scrotwm
Offline
Strata on #archlinux posted this little patch. It tweaks two lines and changes the bar_update from seconds to microseconds. I have not heard what this does to system load, but it lets you make ascii animations in the status bar.

You can use the fullscreen layout and flash videos should maximize to fullscreen when you click the button. Works for me in Firefox, but definitely not 100% ready for primetime. Give that a try for a temporary workaround.
Alternatively, it's possible you could define a quirk for flash windows that will handle this. I'll look into it.

Are there other options for focus_mode ? I'd like to turn off follow_pointer but I'm not sure of what the other options are.
Offline
The default is off. If you have the line "focus_mode = follow_cursor" in your conf, remove it and restart.

I took out all focus_mode lines from my .scrotwm.conf and /etc/scrotwm.conf and focus still follows mouse.
Is there any way to get it to only change focus with keyboard commands or mouse click?

I discussed the same idea with keenerd, and neither of us could find such a functionality in scrotwm. I am considering requesting this as a feature, as I would like my tilers to completely ignore the mouse or cursor position entirely. My initial frustration is that IFF the cursor is resting in the status bar, keyboard control seems to inconveniently lapse until the cursor is pointed back within any client window. I've bumped into a couple other minor irritations, but nothing that couldn't be solved by moving the cursor back inside a window again. I won't speak on keenerd's behalf, but I would like to see an option to ignore the cursor entirely.
Gonna try the focus_mode setting again with latest devel version and see if it does what i'm looking for and report back.

The three valid values (invalid values crash scrotwm) are default, synergy and follow_cursor. I see no obvious behaviour differences between those three settings.

a bit of debugging may be on our plates!

You can find the focus code by searching for SWM_FOCUS in the source code. I don't really know C so can't help there otherwise (I just looked to find the valid options).

I don't know what synergy mode does, but it is probably only useful with synergy.
By default, ScrotWM only changes the focused window when the cursor crosses over from one window to another. Let's say you have four windows in two desktop. 1R, 1L, 2R, 2L (left and right windows). Move the mouse to 1R. Tab to 1L. Switch to 2. 2L is focused, while the mouse is in 2R. Wiggle the mouse around a little. You are moving the mouse in 2R, while focus is still on 2L. Move the mouse to 2R, then back to 2L. Focus is on 2L.
With follow_cursor, whatever window is under the mouse gets focus. Particularly after changing desktops.
Both modes follow the mouse, but follow_cursor is much more eager.

Thanks, that makes sense - though it's probably not what the original poser was after.
The biggest issue with cursor following (for me) is that dialogs can get lost behind tiled windows if you move the mouse outside their boundary briefly - which can be very easy to do.
Obviously they can be brought back, but it can be annoying. I'm sure there's a way round it.

Update your ScrotWM, pacman -Syu. The feature that caused "getting lost behind windows" was pulled from CVS a day after it was introduced (sadly there was not an updated release for a week) but that was two releases ago.

Ah thanks. I'm up to date with scrotwm - come to think of it it might not have happened last time I ran an app that did it (it's pretty infrequent).
And just checking you're right. Cool.

A while back (maybe on IRC, can't find it in this thread) someone asked how to prevent swm_hack from applying to an application. This is probably for people who use daemoned terminal emulators - with swm_hack all the terms will open on the first screen. I looked into it and determined saw no easy way to make this switchable with quirks.
Here is a way to bypass it:
evn -u LD_PRELOAD terminal_emulator
This works if you type it into dmenu, but does not work from inside scrotwm.conf. I have no idea why. So yet another workaround is needed, place the env call in a one line shell script and call the script from scrotwm.conf.

Just started using scrotwm after getting frustrated juggling terminal windows, Libreoffice, PDFs, more terminal window, etc., etc. I can finally use my 16:10 laptop screen without spending a ridiculous amount of time resizing windows and finding the right workspace... Sure, the windows don't wobble and it doesn't get along with cairo-compmgr and I can't get a friendly xft font in the bar but ScrotWM is so clean, fast and sober it makes KDE and GNOME look like drunken sloths binging on nitrous. And it makes my background image surprising again, because i'm not staring at it all the time. Still have to keep openbox for a couple things (like so other humans can use the machine) but ScrotWM is FTMFW.

Try with xcompmgr.
