Intel Corporation WiFi Link 1000 Series

Hello.

I have installed the base system and I already have spent a day trying to get my network connection going, I have only wireless available. I ofcourse read the Wiki, but I found nothing that would help me. I'm sorry didn't read something properly.

During the instalation of the base system I installed packages: "wireless_tools", "iwlwifi-1000-ucode" - as I found out earlier, that should be the drivers for my network controller (Intel Corporation WiFi Link 1000 Series).

I also found, that someone had similar problems in here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=832816.

So as advised there, I tried, but:

# pacman -U $(pwd) linux-firmware-20110512-2-any.pkg.tar
loading package data...
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
error: replacing packages with -U is not supported yet
error: you can replace packages manually using -Rd and -U
:: linux-firmware: conflicts with kernel26-firmware
:: linux-firmware: conflicts with iwlwifi-1000-ucode

What could be the problem? Why my network controller doesn't work properly?

Thank you for your help and time.

Re: Intel Corporation WiFi Link 1000 Series

I would suggest using the new testisos, the card should work out of the box on it.

Hey!

Thank you, everything works fine at the moment. I just wonder why was the problem with the earlier version.

Re: Intel Corporation WiFi Link 1000 Series

the .33 kernel doesn't really have support for the 1000 serie of intel wifi chips. Most of the work for it was added in .38 or something like that.
