Best partition to share with Mac

Just inherited an old MacBook from a friend of mine who's moved on to a newer model. Naturally I'm going to throw Arch on it, but I decided to keep Apple's OS on the side for a while to check it out.
I'd quite like to use a partition that can be shared between OS X and Arch to keep all my music, vids, etc. I'm guessing that the only sensible way to do it would be to use NTFS, but maybe there is a better way. Also, considering Apple's fussiness, I'm wondering if I'd get into any kind of permissions trouble if I use a shared partition. Does anyone have experience in that regard? Would be grateful for some tips.

Cheers

Re: Best partition to share with Mac

if you don't have file larger than 4Gb, fat32 can also be used:
