LVM increase performace ?

As the Phoronix article describes, barriers on ext4 are off in the LVM configurations. That might explain the difference in performance.

i understand in an "hardware" raid , with two fisical hd, that time for reading and writing in theory is half respect only one hd.

but in this case the hd is one......

ok, with barriers off speed increase but can cause problem so with LVM and snapshot feature i'm protected against this type of disaster, right ?

No, snapshot gives you backups, but barrier protects against filesystem corruption.
@Damnshock: can you give us more info about LVM protecting us while barriers are turned off?
