Re: Wine + World of warcraft (patching)

I cannot give you a wow specific solution, but my experience with wine is: either it works, or it doesn't. If it doesn't work, "update to the latest wine version" and hope that will fix it. If that doesn't help, you have three possible ways:

a) Search google for different people who claim they have solved your problem, use winetricks and whatever is neccessary. You have a small chance of success and a big chance to kill your wine installation, so better make a backup of .wine before you start.
http://www.wowwiki.com/World_of_Warcraf … ty_on_Wine could be a starting point or the community who could know more about it. http://appdb.winehq.org/ is also useful. If you start wine in a terminal you might find out which part of wine is causing the crash, google may know more about the error and its solution.

b) You have installed it with wine, only the patch/update is missing. Use your windows installation to do the patching and replace your wine installation folder of the game(which you have backed up in case it doesn't work) with the windows version. This approach worked for me in some cases and might save a lot of time.

c) Be glad with what you have and don't touch it.

Good luck!

Try to install Internet Explorer, I had a similar problem with Starcraft 2 and this solved my problem.

Try IE6?

Seems to run better in WINE, from my experiences.
