adesklets depreciated?

I recently installed adesklet-weatherforecast and all the dependencies for adesklets. When I try to run the weatherforecast.py file

Re: adesklets depreciated?

Have a look at the adesklets website - the project's been dead for years. Last upstream release - March 2006, last Arch update - Sept 2010. I recommend you find an alternative way of doing what you want to do.

Re: adesklets depreciated?

I had successfully used adesklets-weatherforecast as recently as it was last updated. So I guess it will either be updated once more or removed from Community.
I guess that leaves conkyforecast from AUR, since I am not running Gnome, KDE or XFCE.

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50189 This AUR package/patch addresses the exact issue that I was experiencing with Adesklets.

After installing the patch, Adesklets works perfectly.

Maybe next time you could offer some constructive information, or nothing at all, instead of running up your post total with uninformed negative commentary.

Re: adesklets depreciated?

This should be reported on the bug tracker if it wasn't done already.

tomk's comment was neither uninformed (he provided you with concrete information) nor negative (it was a statement of fact). One of the core expectations of all users on these boards is that they respect one another https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fo … ther_Users

I have to disagree. He was not informed of the less than a month old patch that I found on AUR, and "try something else" sounds pretty negative to me.

I have expectations of finding help in solving solvable problems on this forum. Being told to give up and that I'm wrong to have asked in the first place, is not what I expect.

Nor do I expect to be respectful of those who reply, not to offer help but to critcise me for asking.
