Magic Assistant fails to start up (64 bit)

If people do not know much about java or the program Magic Assistant, you probably will not be able to help me.

When I ran Debian 64 bit, I was able to run the program fine but I've been using Arch for about a half year and have never been able to get it to start.  After the loading screen it just crashes.  Whether I install jre6, openjdk6, xulrunner, or eclipse, it still crashes.

I get the following error:

Job found still running after platform shutdown. Jobs should be canceled by the plugin that scheduled them during shutdown: org.eclipse.ui.internal.progress.AnimationManager$1
Job found still running after platform shutdown. Jobs should be canceled by the plugin that scheduled them during shutdown: org.eclipse.ui.internal.progress.ProgressViewUpdater$1
Job found still running after platform shutdown. Jobs should be canceled by the plugin that scheduled them during shutdown: com.reflexit.magiccards.ui.views.ViewerManager$3
error: java.util.zip.ZipException: ZipFile closed

It doesn't matter if its the first time I run the program, the error still shows up.

The ~/workspace/.metadata/.log file says:

Re: Magic Assistant fails to start up (64 bit)

i'm sure this has something to do with mozilla files being in the wrong directory.  i had a previous error that couldn't find a certain file from either xulrunner or mozilla-common, which i linked to the appropriate location.  however, i have no idea what else could be misplaced.

Re: Magic Assistant fails to start up (64 bit)

installing openjdk6 with pacman and installing

http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=53282 (xulrunner192) from aur solved this problem for me. it's up and running. i'll post back if i come across any noticable problems.

Re: Magic Assistant fails to start up (64 bit)

well, i already got rid of it at this point, but thanks for the heads up in case i ever use it again.  i could have sworn i already had those 2 things installed but maybe not.  i know xulrunner had something to do with it.

Re: Magic Assistant fails to start up (64 bit)

yea, the main reason i posted was for the people who come here looking for the fix later. this was the only thread i could find related to this at all in google, so if i ever reinstall... i'll find this thread again and the fix. by the way did you switch to some sort of alternative software, or are you just not playing magic anymore?

btw this program rocks. havent come across any hiccups  yet, except that instead of downloading the entire standard database i've had to download each set one at a time, which isn't really much of a problem, and i think it's a problem with the servers that it's connecting to and not so much the fact that i'm running it on linux or arch.

and i dunno if it matters, but i also installed eclipse.

Re: Magic Assistant fails to start up (64 bit)

i did find an alternative, although i'm not sure how much i prefer it.  magic assistant is pretty good.  the ones i found were web based, which is a bit more useful in itself:
http://mtgdeckbuilder.net/Decks/EditDeck
and
http://tappedout.net/mtg-deck-builder/

i currently use the 2nd one, which is slightly more useful but i think it could be a little more user friendly.

If someone as issue with this, please share. Need to know why this is not working for every arch64bit user.
