Dell Latitude E5410 changing resolution problem

I face some problem for changing the screen resolution. I am using Dell laptop. the VGA device is Intel. No problem to login Xfce4. Resolution is 1280x800. But when I change the resolution to 1024x768 through Xfce4 settings manager, it will become a black screen, then i need to switch off the power manually.

I have tried also on GNOME3, change the resolution to 1024x768 using system-control-center, the result is also same.

Besides that, there is no 10-monitor.conf.

Actually I am doing SDL programming for the fullscreen, then I found that the problem is not from SDL.

Try change to vc1 and back to vc7 (ie Ctrl+Alt+F1 and then Alt+F7).  For my laptop I have to boot into X first and then connect the vga cable.

Re: Dell Latitude E5410 changing resolution problem

steve, do you mean tty1 to tty7. It does not work. Keyboard does not produce anything. I even tried to use vnc to change the resolution from remote computer, after changing the resolution, the I cannot connect the vnc server from remote computer any more. Meaning that, after changing the resolution, the computer just look like suspended or something.
