wine - why not pulseaudio suppot?

Just....why default wine from repos doesnt support pulseaudio? Now, when gnome3 hardly depends on it?

Re: wine - why not pulseaudio suppot?

Wine doesn't support PulseAudio, it has nothing to do with the Arch packagers. There are patches that add a Pulse driver, but using one would be against the patching policy, which is one of the reasons many people use Arch - vanilla, upstream software without extra bugs.

Here's a link to the Wine bug report: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10495. Doesn't look like they intend to support it, because Pulse claims to offer ALSA compatibility.

Re: wine - why not pulseaudio suppot?

i dont use PA, but i know for fact that there is an AUR pkgbuild for this exact problem;

http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=30419

obviously, by installing this package you will have to compile wine (patched for PA) - but from what i am told it works very well.

im pure ALSA/Jack myself (in Gnome3), i not happy with PA being a static dependency, but it is what it is...i just disabled it
